NOXX HYD™ ANTIFOULING Benefits

The NOXX HYD™ nonpolluting antifouling system emitters were installed and located emitters on the vessel’s in-board to protect the hull only. The outdrives not safeguarded by the NOXX HYD™ antifouling system. The owner allowed for the system to run for 16 months and monitored it the boat consistently over this time.

The results are stunning! 

They show how the larvae have avoided the protected area and have settled in the unprotected area on the trim tabs.

Legislation is changing the face of antifouling systems that will be acceptable in the future. NOXX HYD™ will not fall afoul of the potential legislation and contribute to the collective effort to manage animal life marine fouling.

THE NOXX HYD™ ANTIFOULING BENEFITS – DIFFERENT FROM OTHER SOLUTIONS.

The NOXX HYD™ low-frequency hydrosonic antifouling system is often confused with ultrasound or ultrasonic systems. However, the NOXX HYD™ antifouling benefits are outstanding in comparison.

NOXX HYD™ is not an ultrasonic MGPS.

Hydrosonic sound is in the audible frequency range. The audible range of sound is between 20 and 20 000 Hz (or 20 kHz). Ultrasound uses acoustic energy above 20 kHz. Ultrasound is driven by cavitation, or at lower intensity levels, movement of the surrounding water. Cavitation is the formation of tiny bubbles that release energy, turbulence, and heat when they pop. It is difficult for biofouling organisms to attach to surfaces in the face of cavitation or moving water. Unfortunately, the cavitation produced by ultrasonic transducers is also responsible for eroding hulls and sea chests over time.

However, the effect of hydrosound is driven either by creating the illusion of a predatory environment for mussels, barnacles, and pinworms or by vibrating surfaces protected, making them unstable for attachment to occur. 

Furthermore, these low frequency pulses neither the food source nor marine life larvae. Unlike ultrasound, the NOXX HYD™ solution is highly effective on the propellers, rudders, shafts, bow thrusters, outdrives, and trim tabs. The system operates on extremely low power. The average-size system works between 0.8 and 1.5 amps.
