NOXX HYD is a low frequency system that does not harm the environment and does not use cavitation to prevent fouling. NOXX HYD deters fouling and therefore does kill the fouling in the process of preventing fouling. Why is cavitation such a big deal? Its an easy Google search to see countless examples, but we have been as concise as possible here.

Cavitation is the sudden formation and immediate collapse of vapor or air bubbles in a liquid stream when system pressure falls below the vapor pressure in the liquid, resulting in tiny, yet powerful, shockwaves that can, over time, cause significant damage to metal. In the process industries, cavitation generally occurs in a liquid stream when the system pressure falls below the vapor pressure in the liquid. These often includes pump impellers, areas just downstream of let down valves, and pipe bends where a sudden change in liquid direction occurs.

The damage from cavitation most often manifests as wear or pitting on the surface of the metal. This wear is caused by the cyclic stresses of the repeated shockwaves caused by the collapses of the cavities. While an individual collapse is relatively harmless, numerous collapses can cause erosion over time.

Emits LOW frequencies in the 17-20Hz (not kHz) range created by an oscillator. The material the emitter is mounted to acts as a sound board carrying the sound waves and deterring the settlement of larvae. Larvae have two weeks to find a place to settle, they will waste no time settling elsewhere!

Emits HIGH frequencies in the 19.5-70kHz range created by a digital control unit. The transducers use the material as a sound board to create cavitation (formation of tiny bubbles or water molecules). The cavitation causes the cells to explode and will kill the larvae and the food source.

Creates an environment where the main causes of fouling such as barnacles, mussels etc see the sound as predatory environment and avoid the area altogether. The system prevents the settlement of the larvae, it does not kill the food source or the larvae. Will not damage the surface its protecting.

Sound waves cause cavitation (tiny bubbles or water molecules) over the underwater profile of the hull or internal piping systems killing the food source and the larvae. Ultrasound is a powerful cleaning agent and over time the cavitation process will degrade steel.

Will protect any area on any material, even areas that are not always exposed to water such as the waterline on a vessel that is constantly changing, or a vessel exposed to mud beds in extreme tidal change areas.

The cavitation requires water in order to exist, therefore any area not constantly exposed to water may not be protected.

The system is effective in preventing barnacles, mussels and other sea life from attaching to the internal piping systems of a vessel, on the Hull, propellers, shafts, rudders and bow and stern thrusters.

The system helps to some degree in keeping the stern gear (propellers, shafts and rudders) clear, Ultrasound is most effective on the hull.

Each emitter uses extremely low energy at 0.1 amps per emitter.

Systems vary in power consumption. Some transducers require amplification. Each transducer uses 0.6 amps per transducer.

Works on any material.

Will not work on wooden or low density material. Is best used on single skin GPR, aluminum or concrete.
